Broccoli with Sweet Sesame

About the Recipe

I don't think there is any dispute that broccoli is good for you and should find its way to your table on a regular basis. Here's a way to serve it that will have everyone wanting more next time. Even better, it's ready in a jiffy!


250g / 9 oz broccoli

3 tbsp toasted black sesame seeds

1.5 tbsp sugar

1 tsp soy sauce

1 tsp miso

1 tsp mirin


remove the brocolli florets & stem. cut the stem into bite sized chunksand halve any large florets

to make the sweet sesame: 

grind the sesame seeds really finely then mix the sesame, sugar, soy sauce, mirin, miso well in a bowl

cook the broccoli in boiling water for 3 mins & drain

add the sweet sesame mixture to the broccoli and mix well

serve with rice as a side dish
